WHAT’S IN A NAME: Centalion

One of the most common questions we get asked is about our name Centalion: Where did it come from and what does it mean?

Centalion refers to a group that moves as one. The name combines “centurion” and “medallion” to capture the strength and unity of our company’s partnership, and our commitment to lead in global commodities trading.

Roman “centuries” epitomized teamwork. Their unity made them unstoppable forces, able to defend ground and capture opportunities – even under immense pressure – because of their mutual understanding and synchronized movement.

How did we choose the name?

The decision to rename and rebrand followed a full partnership referendum held in July 2026, which came after six months of employee engagement and external market research.

World-leading brand specialist Landor conducted the research and branding project, and undertook its research across several of our offices worldwide. They also conducted survey with select counterparties, market participants, and banking partners.

How is the new name pronounced?

Centalion is pronounced Sen-TAL-yon. It rhymes with “medallion”.
